Just as no two marriages in New York are alike, the reasons behind a much-needed divorce can range across a multitude of factors. While this may be true, a new study has pinpointed several factors that could put a couple at an increased risk for a divorce. Some of these signs could possibly surface before a marriage has even begun.
The research uncovered that couples who share drastically different drinking habits have a higher possibility of divorcing. However, it may not actually be drinking that's the culprit. Actually, marriages in which both parties have heavy drinking habits do not appear to have an increased risk for divorce. Thus, the increased risk among those with significantly different drinking patterns may simply be a matter of a difference in habits.
A factor that may be difficult to avoid is simply knowing someone who has already experienced a divorce. When a sibling, friend or neighbor goes through a divorce, the chance that the couple who knows them will divorce rises by a shocking 75 percent. This may be even more true for couples who chose to get married while they were still young, particularly those who were still in their early 20s or even younger.
Of course, simply having a certain factor that might make a couple more likely to divorce doesn't mean that they will, although it can still be used as an indicator of where a marriage might be headed. No matter the reasons why, there are some issues with which every divorcing couple in New York will have to face if they do decide to call it quits. For instance, property must first be designated as either separate or marital before asset division can even begin, and when children are involved, child custody and support are often some of the most important factors to tackle.
